Stainless Steel furniture that will be used within 10 miles of the ocean, or has direct contact with chlorinated swimming pool water, should be ordered with an electropolish finish. Electropolishing is a special treatment that renders the stainless steel suitable for these environments by providing additional resistance against discoloration and corrosion. Steel that has been electropolished will have a mirror finish versus the brushed appearance of our untreated finish.

We use #304 grade stainless steel - the industry standard - in manufacturing our Tiburon, Ibiza and Tivoli outdoor products. Yet despite its durability, stainless steel furniture requires regular maintenance to keep it looking like new and we recommend cleaning your stainless steel furniture periodically. Furniture that is used in harsher environments requires more frequent cleaning.
Although stainless steel is generally resistant to corrosion, the surface is susceptible to discoloration due to the effects of salt water, salt air, and chlorine from pool water. We do not recommend using this furniture if you are within 10 miles of the ocean unless the furniture has been electropolished. Discoloring in no way affects the strength, integrity or longevity of the furniture and proper cleaning will help restore the steel to its original appearance. To furniture inhibit corrosion
and retard the effects of weather and oxidation, we recommend using Kingsley Bate Anti-Corrosion Wax at least once a year. |
